Calculating Ovulation with OV Watch

Why is calculating ovulation not the best or fastest way of getting pregnant?

Many experts agree that a couple can greatly increase their chances of getting pregnant if they time intercourse for the few days before a woman's ovulation date. The fertility window for a woman trying to conceive starts five days before ovulation and includes the day of ovulation. The 4 days before ovulation hold an 80% probability of pregnancy, while the day of ovulation only holds a 5% chance. Because the human egg typically lives for about 12 to 17 hours after ovulation, a couple is unlikely to become pregnant after the day of ovulation. So, only calculating the day of ovulation gives you a very narrow window of opportunity to conceive.

What tools calculate ovulation for ideal times to get pregnant?

Traditionally, women have relied on monitoring cervical mucus, their basal body temperature and leutenizing hormone or LH changes to predict ovulation. There are many ovulation prediction test kits on the market that help test LH changes, and this is done using a test strip or wand that checks the LH of urine. However, these methods are prone to human error, can be messy, and only reveal a very short window of fertility (hours) when most women actually have an ovulation period of up to six days.

The best way to monitor fertility without having to calculate ovulation: OV-Watch®

The OV-Watch® provides you your most fertile time by detecting the chloride ion change on the surface of your skin. It does this using a biochemical sensor and advanced microcomputing. The advanced biosensor predicts ovulation and six days of fertility by monitoring the changes in chloride. This timepiece gives you advanced warning of your fertility window. That can make all the difference when trying to conceive.

The OV-Watch® detects the chloride surge three days prior to the estrogen surge. It also detects it four days prior to the LH surge. This chloride surge comes five days before ovulation, which is how OV-Watch® is able to give you advanced notice. During clinical trials for FDA approval, 3 out of 4 women used the watch and learned of their fertile window for the full five days prior to ovulation while only 1 in 6 women had advance warning of only 12 to 24 hours notice of ovulation with urine or LH ovulation prediction tests.
